3-Day Medical Mission
On this tour, you'll participate in humanitarian activities and enjoy some of the best of Ghana, too.
This volunteer tourism trip is a fundraiser to support the work of Healthy Villages, Inc. to bring healthcare to poor, remote villages in Ghana. The in-country cost of your trip is tax deductible in the U.S. and Canada.
We'll start our tour with a three-day medical mission in the Volta Region of Ghana (southeast Ghana). You'll work alongside our Ghana staff to assess and treat patients of all ages.
NOTE: Medical mission and/or community volunteer work are OPTIONAL.
Sea Turtle Rescue & Ecotourism
We'll spend a couple days at an eco-lodge on one of Ghana's most beautiful beaches. The lodge supports an NGO focused in part on saving endangered sea turtles. You will be invited to assist their efforts.
We'll take a leisurely boat ride through a mangrove habitat and watch for colorful tropical birds. And of course, relax, swim in the surf, and walk on the beach!
We'll explore places of natural beauty, spend a night in a rainforest tree house, and take a morning hike through the forest. We may even see forest elephants, and monkeys jumping through the trees!
Culture & Sightseeing
You will be introduced to Ghana's traditions, culture and history as we travel. Enjoy exciting visits to bustling open-air markets and traditional villages, and find treasures to bring home.
We'll take a riveting tour of a World Heritage Site slave castle. The trip will end with a drumming and dance performance on the beach!
Godfried Agbezudor, Healthy Villages, Inc. co-director, is an expert on Ghana's spiritual and cultural traditions, and will enjoy sharing his knowledge with you as we travel.
