Three-day Medical Mission
On this tour, you'll participate in humanitarian activities and enjoy some of the best of Ghana, too.
This volunteer tourism trip is a fundraiser to support the work of Healthy Villages, Inc. to bring healthcare to poor, remote villages in Ghana. The in-country cost of your trip is tax deductible in the U.S. and Canada.
We'll start our tour with a three-day medical mission in the Volta Region of Ghana (eastern Ghana). You'll work alongside our Ghana staff to assess and treat patients of all ages.
Please see our blog for information about past medical missions!
NOTE: Medical mission and/or community volunteer work are OPTIONAL.
Lots of Wildlife!
This is our most wildlife-rich volunteer tourism option! We'll visit three of Ghana's National Parks, where we'll have the chance to see numerous species of mammals, birds and reptiles - including elephants, monkeys, antelope, and more.
You'll see some of Ghana's most breathtaking scenery as we hike through rainforests and cool off by gorgeous waterfalls!
We'll also visit a hippo sanctuary and take a boat ride to watch the hippos in their natural habitat. Our visit will support a community development project - we'll tour their village and learn about how the community is protecting the hippos.
History, Culture & Tradition
Our tour will take us through traditional villages of many of the different tribes of Ghana. Cultural museums and art galleries will give you a flavor of Ghana's history.
Godfried Agbezudor, Healthy Villages, Inc. co-director, is an expert on Ghana's people and their traditional ways, and will explain and interpret what you're seeing as we travel.
We'll also visit busy open-air markets where you can shop for souvenirs and treasures to bring home. We'll end the trip with a drumming and dance performance on the beach, and a tour of Ghana's bustling capital city, Accra.
