Coming to Ghana on a healthcare mission will change your life, and give the gift of better health to some of the world's most underserved.
Healthy Villages, Inc. partners with Continent Explorer, a Ghanaian-owned and operated tour company, to lead professionally organized and run health-related humanitarian missions to poor villages in Ghana. We coordinate mission activities with the Ghana Health Service administration in the region in which we are working, and clinical staff in the villages we visit. We develop relationships with organizations to obtain medicines and supplies at no or low cost, or purchase medications locally in our work area. In addition to doing vitally needed work in underserved villages, volunteer medical professionals are introduced to the local culture and traditional ways of life. Our volunteers leave feeling satisfied in what they've accomplished, and look forward to returning to experience more of the beauty of Africa and her people!
WE HAVE TWO HEALTHCARE MISSION OPTIONS AVAILABLE FOR 2019:
OPTION 1 - Healthcare Mission 10 days in-country includes five clinic days and one day touring a local hospital. Clinic days will be spent in remote villages and underserved clinics, treating a variety of patients and health problems. Volunteers are partnered with our Ghana medical team for language interpreting and learning about tropical illnesses encountered on the field. Base cost for in-country portion of the mission is $2500 USD per person, which includes lodging, transportation, food and bottled water. After-mission sightseeing trips are available at an additional cost. Airfare, visa, yellow fever immunization, malaria prophylactic medication, beverages other than water, and souvenirs are not included in the base cost and typically run between $1500 and $2000. In-country costs are tax deductible and other trip-related costs may also be tax deductible. Healthy Villages, Inc. has served 6230 patients with free medical care - join our team and make a real impact with underserved people. Please see our blog for past mission trip reports!
OPTION 2 - Volunteer Tourism 15 days in-country includes three clinic days or other volunteer activities and 12 days traveling and sightseeing in Ghana. Volunteer activities are organized around your interests and abilities. These package tours will take you to the most sought-after tourist sites in the country. Visit locations of cultural and historical significance, natural beauty, and wildlife viewing. Lodging will be in comfortable but modest guesthouses along the way. Base cost includes all lodging, travel, entry fees, food and bottled water. Godfried Agbezudor, Healthy Villages, Inc. co-director and owner of Continent Explorer Tours will be your guide and cultural ambassador.
